so alex - it's ok to be misleading and unethical if the outcome is that you are successful in generating interest in your product...

now that sounds like marketing 1.0 ;)

as for goowy itself - i could care less whether it succeeds or fails, i liked david's callout post which is the only reason for my comment...

No kidding. In his haste to hear himself talk, Mike made the major mistake of not researching their prior businesses. So they attempted to generate interest in their company, big deal. It might not have been the most ethical way to go about it, but it did succeed. We'll see how much Mike likes to talk once their company is firmly established.

nice raising awareness post david, and adriana you've handled the unfortunate situation w/ class...

as for the "goowy team" - (Alex, Gary, Jeremy and Sashi) - first, nice lack of transparency - you blew it initially by defaulting to an "opt-in invite all your contacts spam model" which seems strategically clueless, but then ya'll made the classic mistake of claiming "user error" instead of taking the blame yourselves - not a good way to rebound folks, but obviously based on your about page you've all been a part of a dot-bomb before - so you know the drill, that sound you hear is the air rapidly leaving your bubble ;)

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. This was not at all our intent and we thought we made it very clear during the process (the invite font was big and red).

Since a few people have had a problem with this we have changed the process so that this will not happen in the future.

Yeah, I got caught by the fact it came from Dennis Howlett who's also web savvy... so I thought - will give it a try and test it.
